Project description

Amidst the growing popularity of the “buy local” movement, NY-based startup Slice found that competing against the likes of Domino’s and Pizza Hut was a challenging, if not impossible, task for small neighborhood pizzerias. Having grown into one of the largest brands in the $46B US pizza market by digitally aggregating these independent shops, Slice was looking to scale their technology and elevate the customer experience.

Impressed by the work we’ve done for foodtech juggernauts like Freshly and Shef, Slice decided our team was the best partner for the job. They started with five iOS engineers, then quickly added 15 more Android, Ruby, and Python specialists to their lineup.

We worked hand-in-hand with Slice’s in-house developers on mobile platforms for both their client businesses and end users, which have already produced striking results: The startup expanded their network to 19,000 restaurants — more than double the footprint of Domino’s — across every state, as well as helped local restaurants save more than $250M.

The result

Shortly after we partnered, Slice raised a $40M Series D, bringing its total funding to $125M. Better yet, the startup was named to Fast Company’s prestigious list of the most innovative companies of 2021.

Our team is now taking over more responsibilities across the entire project; so as long as pizzerias are hungry for Slice’s small-business solutions, we’ll continue delivering software that matches the company’s increasing success.
